Time for a radical transition.
Environmental consulting company SLR realised they needed a radical change from their out of town, cellularised office that had little space for collaboration. Relocating to a quirky building in central Bristol paved the way for an exciting, flexible space that subtly promotes the core brand and values. A trusting relationship between SLR and Interaction throughout the process resulted in a smooth, stress-free transition and ultimately a fantastic workspace for all of the SLR Bristol employees.
The whole Interaction team were very keen to engage with the staff in our office to ensure everyone felt involved in the design process. They showed their ample capacity to deal with the project and continually put us at ease during what, at the time, felt like a daunting challenge. Thank you for making what felt like a major undertaking less intimidating.

Trust and transparency
When SLR contacted Interaction, their current office was dysfunctional and needed a complete overhaul. Their teams were compartmentalised, the layout was fixed and lacked fluidity and their teams were not collaborating the way they needed to. The decision was made to relocate, choosing the Grade II listed central Bristol Brew House building. The Brew House provides a perfect shell to design, to allow them to have an open and flexible workspace.
To create a flexible hub, meant conceiving a host of fluid spaces, such as a touchdown reception, a fully standing plan bench, booths in the tea point and a library that doubles up as a quiet work area. Ensuring there were a multitude and variety of spaces was imperative to support their new open, activity-based working approach. One of the focal points of the project is the plan bench, at the heart of the workspace, the bench is a location to gather, collaborate, plan, which also has plenty of storage and space to work effectively. The design is also sympathetic to the old Brewery building and doesn’t cover any of the wall material to allow the heritage of to shine through.
From the start of the project, SLR and Interaction had a trusting relationship, which remained so throughout the project. The client appreciated the transparent approach that Interaction takes, and after detailed initial meetings and budgeting, this ensured there were absolutely no hiccups in the process of delivering this great project. The client is delighted with the result and has already seen the benefits of an effective and open working environment.
